Inter Milan v AC Milan [2-0] (Tuesday 20:00 UTC+01:00)
The first leg concluded with a 2-0 victory for Internazionale. Goals from Dzeko and Mkhitaryan in the first fifteen minutes were not answered, with the home side failing to capitalize on their 58% possession. This result is a familiar story for AC, as the three games they have lost in this competition have been by a margin of at least two goals without scoring themselves. Odds now swing towards the Blues with 1×2 (2.07), (3.26) and (3.77).
Romelu Lukaku put two past Sassuolo at the weekend, and is 2.80 score in normal time in this game. Fellow goalscorer last weekend Lautaro Javier Martinez is a frontrunner for Inter at 2.58, while last week’s goalscorers follow close behind – Edin Dzeko (2.90) and Henrik Mkhitaryan (4.33) to score inside 90 minutes.
AC Milan had similar luck over the weekend away at Spezia in the Serie A, again losing 2-0. Failing to dominate yet again with 60% possession, questions will now be raised as to the quality of their attacking potential, but also their wayward defence. However doom and gloom aside, the prospect of another derby victory at the San Siro will put all past indiscretions behind them if they can reach the final.
Although the Blues have a two-goal cushion and are riding aloft a seven-game winning streak, ultimately this semi-final can swing either way if the Reds can find their form. Though unsurprisingly Inter are now at (3.80) to lift the trophy, while AC falter at (23.00).
Manchester City v Real Madrid [1-1] (Wednesday 20:00 UTC+01:00)
The first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw and was a truly enthralling encounter between two of Europe’s elite. This Wednesday it’s crunch time, with the Citizens enjoying a home advantage in Manchester. Stats-wise, both teams were equal on board with Pep Guardiola’s side only slightly edging out the opposition on passing and possession. 1×2 swings fully to the home side (1.61), (4.31) and (5.04).
Real Madrid had a slim victory over Getafe on Saturday with a goal after 70 minutes from Marco Asensio, who’s in contention to score again at (4.25) inside 90 minutes. Karim Benzema, the French hero for Los Blancos in last year’s competition against City is (2.80) to score in 90 minutes.
City are unbeaten since the start of February across all competitions and it’s increasingly looking like the stars will align for the Citizens in Europe. After another brace at the weekend, German international Ilkay Gundogan is 4.33 to score inside 90 minutes in this game, his current form is not unsurprising, added to the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, with the Norwegian striker (1.53) and his Belgian midfielder (3.50) to score in normal time.
Difficult to predict, and with it all to play a 1-1 mirror of last week is (9.00). It wouldn’t be a late-stage knockout leg without some penalties, however, 2-0 (9.50) or 2-1 (9.00) to the English side seem just as likely. Light or dark, it looks like blue could be the colour of the final at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul on the 10th of June.
