Worthy outright favourites?
Brazil leads the outright betting ahead of the Qatar World Cup, and rightfully so! They stormed clear of their qualifying group without losing a game. With some of the world’s best attacking talent, Brazil look primed to make a serious challenge in Qatar.
Another nation worthy of following closely is France. Didier Deschamps’ side continue to bring through some of the world’s best footballing talent. The stars of their 2018 World Cup winning side are still a major part of the team and they’re now accompanied by the likes of Tchouaméni and Nkunku. The one major absentee from the squad of 2018 is Blaise Matudi.
The biggest and most notable addition to Deschamp’s side is Karim Benzema. After six years out of the French squad due to off field issues, Benzema is back and better than ever. The strong favourite for this year’s Ballon d’Or is a huge addition to the current French side and makes them favourites in my eyes. Benzema has arguably been the world’s best player this year. A total of 27 goals in La Liga and 15 in the Champion’s League, his stats are in a league of their own. Driving Real Madrid to a 14th European cup, 35th La Liga trophy, and a 12th Super Cup, France are lucky to have him.
It’s going to be an exciting World Cup and anything can happen. Although, I wouldn’t want to bet against this French side, making them my pick to be the third country to win back to back World Cups.
